Presently, we comprise of four veterinary surgeons, three veterinary nurses, two secretarial staff and one pet groomer.
How often should my pet have a health check done?
Health checks should be carried out annually, and are best done at time of vaccination. It is also one of the requirements of pet insurance companies now that these checks are done at least once a year.
Does my pet need to be vaccinated?
Vaccinations are critical to the health of your pet. All pets receive their first inoculation at 6 weeks, with boosters subsequently at 10 weeks and 15 weeks for dogs, and 10 weeks for kittens respectively. Annual boosters are necessary to maintain their immunity.
How often do I need to treat my dog for worms?
Adult dogs & cats should be treated every 3 months. Kittens once every month until it is 6 months old starting at 4 weeks. Puppies once every 2 weeks until it is 12 weeks, then every 3 weeks until it is 6 months old.
Does my pet need to be micro-chipped?
It is highly recommended that all pets are micro-chipped. It is the only means of tracing your pet if it is lost. Micro-chipping will become mandatory in 2015. It can be done at any age.
When can I neuter my pet?
This is ideally done at 6 months of age, provided you have no desire to breed from your pet. It can be done at any stage after this, but is critical you reduce the daily food intake subsequently as they are more prone to gaining weight.
Can I get my pets teeth cleaned?
Yes. Routine dental cleaning is important where you get plaque building up. It is important that this is done early to prevent any periodontal disease. Small patients and pets that eat soft food are more prone to this plaque build up. Please call for an appointment.
Does my pet need a passport?
Pet passports are now legally required by the department of agriculture for your pet to travel in Europe including the United Kingdom. In order to get such a passport, your pet must be micro-chipped and also vaccinated against rabies, this must be done at least 3 weeks prior to travel. Immediate prior to travel, a health check must be carried out by your vet and treatment for ticks and worms applied, which can be carried out during normal clinic hours.
Should I insure my pet?
It is highly recommended that you insure your pet against both illness and injuries. This is available through numerous commercial companies such as 123.ie, Pet Insure and Pet Insurance.

We stock a wide range of both regular diets for normal active dogs, and diets tailored to your pet’s requirements due to previously diagnosed conditions. We also have a number of foods tailored for the less active or mature pet, and for those with any food allergies.
